LED output power passing through the ferrule is thus correlated to the analog input voltage signal to the LED controller. The program then calculated intensity from power based on the diameter of the

fiber optic and linearly correlated to the voltage input. This standardized the output of each ferrule based on intensity rather than voltage input, enabling precise stimulation at accurate intensities across all experimental subjects. Custom-written Matlab scripts then converted standard output intensities to the appropriate signal voltages for each test subject. Ferrules were attached to the patch fiber cable by means of 1.25 mm inner diameter ceramic split sleeves (Precision Fiber Products). These were reinforced by threading them through trimmed heat shrink tubing (Digi-Key, Thief River Falls, MN, USA), and subsequently heating them. These reinforced sleeves were superior to the bare split-sleeves in resisting breakage due to vigorous movement of some subjects. This ceramic split sleeve was the most common breaking point in the connection, conveniently leaving the implanted ferrule and patch fiber cables intact. Hypergraph-Based Memory Model We propose

a hypergraph-based memory model that enables incrementally encoding nonstationary contextual data and operating recognition judgment from the encoded memory model. In this section, we describe the memory mechanism, including encoding and judgment, from the concept of a hypergraph structure. The basic concept of the memory model follows the principles of a cognitive agent suggested by Zhang [34]. The hypergraph structure mimics brain mechanism related to memory encoding and retrieving. For memory encoding, input

data are disassembled into subsets and distributed for storage in memory. To retrieve the data, segmented subsets are composited to generate the complete data. The primary processes of memory encoding and judgment from the memory are partitioning and combining. To support these memory mechanisms based on a subset combination, we apply a hypergraph structure and modify the structure by constructing a layered hypergraphs. 3.1. Hypergraph-Based Memory Structure A hypergraph is a graphical model composed of edges, which are combinations of nodes [35]. When an event instance X is x1, x2,…, x6, a hypergraph can be represented as shown in Figure 1(a). In a hypergraph, a complete instance is divided into several subsets, which share a common property. Each node is allowed to be included in distinguished subsets according to the endowed parameter conditions. A single subset, combination of nodes, is assigned as a hyperedge with k nodes, where k is a variable indicating the size of the nodes in a subset. flexible combinatorial structure of a hypergraph, several research domains have applied such characteristics as a spatial relationship in image processing and a temporal relationship in formal language analysis [36–38]. Study Areas To demonstrate the practical application of the analysis framework proposed in this paper, three communities were selected as study areas, as shown in Figure 5. The three study areas were selected from the communities along Metro line 7 in Shanghai with the overall consideration of data quality, construction history, built environment, location, and resident population. The three selected communities are Jing’an, Dahua, and Gucun. Generally speaking,

Jing’an, Gucun, and Dahua are, respectively, the typical representatives of the mature communities in the city center, the newly constructed communities in the suburbs, and the communities in between. Method of mobile-phone-based resident identification proposed in our previous research [16] was introduced to determine the study objects. A certain mobile subscriber could be labeled as the resident in the study area if the criteria were GSK-3 satisfied that the mobile subscriber once stayed in a certain study area for no less than 6 hours during the time period from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m, frequency of which exceeded 20 in a month. As a result, there were 1,363 residents identified in Gucun, 2,955 in Dahua, and 14,901 in Jing’an. U1*, U2*, and U3* denoted the sets of residents in the three study areas, respectively, and acted as the input parameters in the spatial interaction analysis. 4.3. Results and Discussion 4.3.1. Parameters Selection for Proposed Method There are some parameters in IPSO which need to be specified by the user. However, it is unnecessary to tune all these parameters for the sample data because IPSO is not very sensitive to them. Therefore, these parameters are set as the number of particles M(50); the maximum number of allowable iterations T(500); the position and velocity range of particles ([−1, 1]); the initial acceleration coefficients c1 and c2 of IPSO (2.5 and 0.5); the inertia weights wmax and wmin of IPSO (0.9 and 0.4); the termination error Minerr(0.0001); the minimum fitness variance for mutation σmin 2(0.001).

The structure of T-S CIN is determined by the sample data. In this simulation example, the input data of T-S CIN is 6-dimensional and output data is 1-dimensional. Thus, n = 6 and m can be set as 12. Other parameters including expectation Exij, entropy Enij, hyper entropy Heij, and coefficient ωij can be optimized through IPSO. 4.3. Simulation Results The sample data in Figure 6 should be normalized firstly and are randomly split into a training data set containing 350 samples and a testing data set containing the remaining 50 samples, which is only used to verify the Brefeldin_A accuracy and the effectiveness of the trained T-S CIN model. The relevant parameters are given as Section 4.3 described. The proposed method runs 10 times and the mean values are regarded as the final results. The performance criterion of T-S CIN can be measured by the mean squared absolute error (MSE) and the mean absolute error (MAE) between the predicted outcome and the actual outcome.
