Gender was associated with
the time to full RTW among survivors of blood malignancies with women having a longer time to full RTW than men.
Conclusions: Most employees had full RTW within 2 years after the diagnosis of cancer and the time to RTW was largely independent of age and gender. Copyright (C) 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.”
“We report magnetic behavior of a dilute ferromagnetic alloy Ni(1-x)Mn(x), 0 < x < 25%. Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is used to examine the local magnetic moment on each element, and superconducting quantum interference device magnetometry is used to evaluate the magnetization JQ1 cost of the alloy as a whole. Both MCD and hysteresis loops show a collapse in moment at x approximate to 15% measured at 100 K. The Mn doping appears to disturb the long-range ordering of the host nickel spins which, in the concentration range studied, is a precursor disordered ferromagnet prior to a spin-glass phase.”
“ObjectiveTo report a case of panhypopituitarism in a patient receiving long-term intrathecal opioids.
DesignThis is a case study and review of current medical literature. There is a 7-year follow-up time.
PatientsOne adult
male clinic patient with pituitary dysfunction.
Main Outcome Measure(s)Intrathecal opioids may lead to pituitary dysfunction.
ResultsIntrathecal opioid pain management may produce some generalized effects, as well as pituitary hypofunction, as evidenced by this case. This patient experienced simultaneous suppression of multiple anterior pituitary hormones, which persisted with chronic oral opioid therapy following cessation of an intrathecal opioid pump.
ConclusionsAll
Selleckchem MGCD0103 hypothalamic pituitary axes, seem potentially vulnerable to therapy with intrathecal opioids. When patients are receiving these medications, symptoms need to be critically evaluated with appropriate laboratory assessments for Ilomastat suspected pituitary dysfunction. Further studies are required in order to create formal recommendations for routine patient surveillance during intrathecal opioid therapy.”
“Objective: A wide variety of psychosocial interventions are available for cancer patients, among which group psychotherapy (GPT) programs have made improvements in cancer patients’ quality of life, coping abilities, and emotional distress. Few research data are available describing Philippine breast cancer patients’ interest in GPT. This study aimed at enumerating the factors that determine Philippine breast cancer patients’ interest in a GPT program.
Methods: Patients recruited from the University of Santo Tomas Hospital Benavides Cancer Institute were asked to answer a survey questionnaire about their demographic, clinical, and psychosocial status, as well as whether they would be interested in joining GPT and why.
Results: Of 135 patients approached, 123 patients completed the survey. 104 (85%) women indicated interest in GPT.
